  13.                               Sales Increase More Than 2000% in Five Years

  15. WESTBORO, Mass., December 12, 1990 -- In its first year of
  16. eligibility, Banyan Systems of Westboro, Mass., has been named to
  17. the 1990 Inc. 500 list of the fastest growing private companies in
  18. America.

  20. Overall Banyan was ranked on the list as the 114th fastest growing
  21. company, with 1989 revenues of $80 million, an increase of more
  22. than 2,000% over the last five years, according to Inc. The listing
  23. also indicates that Banyan has become the fourth fastest growing
  24. private technology firm in Massachusetts -- a state widely known
  25. for its abundance of technology firms.

  27. Founded in 1983, Banyan pioneered the market for large and mid-
  28. sized corporations that needed to integrate all of their computing
  29. resources. Banyan's solution is a fully distributed PC network that
  30. brings computing power to the desktop and eliminates reliance on
  31. expensive mainframes and minicomputers.

  37. technological leader in this fast-growing area with systems
  38. installed at organizations such as Texaco USA -- Gas Department,

  42. quickly realized that the right networking solution would enable
  43. customers to improve the performance of their total computer system
  44. and save millions of dollars by replacing large, centralized
  45. computers with PC networks or by incorporating these larger systems

  52. Companies on the Inc. list include service-related firms,
  53. manufacturing, retail, distribution-related and construction
  54. companies. The rankings are based on the percentage increase in
  55. sales from 1985 through 1989. Companies had to show at least
  56. $100,000, but no more than $25 million in sales in 1985 and had to
  57. register a sales increase between 1988 and 1989.
